Route intelligence
Soul Scores
A structured reading of how a route feels, so you can choose a path by its qualities — not only its distance.
What Soul Scores measure
Seven qualities,
one clear score.
Every route in the PureSoul network is reviewed against the same seven-axis framework. The result is a Soul Score: a simple, comparable profile of what you can expect before you set out.
Measured from road proximity, traffic volume, typical footfall and the share of the route that sits away from built-up areas. Routes scoring high on Quiet tend to run through parkland, woodland or field paths, and are best early in the morning or outside peak hours.
Based on tree cover, green space, open horizon and proximity to protected or semi-natural land. A high Nature score means most of the route is spent in a natural setting rather than passing it briefly.
Counts road crossings, gates, stairs, sharp turns and surface changes. High Flow routes let you settle into a steady rhythm; low Flow routes are still worth walking, but expect to stop and start.
Scored on how much of the route follows or overlooks water, and how visible and accessible that water is. Canal paths, riverside routes and coastal sections score highest.
Reflects historic rights of way, pilgrim and drovers' routes, listed structures, monuments and documented local history along the path. Useful when you want the route itself to carry context.
Combines surface softness, gradient consistency and total effort. High Recovery routes are suited to rest days, return-to-movement weeks and easy sessions between harder efforts.
Total climb, steepest sustained gradient and where the climbing sits within the route. Reported as measured, not smoothed, so the number matches what your legs will register.

Across the family
The same score,
for every kind of movement.
Soul Scores are applied consistently across PureSoul Walking, Running, Hiking and Cycling. Each site weights the qualities to match its purpose — but the underlying scale stays the same.

PureSoul Walking
Find everyday routes scored for quiet, flow and nature in the city, park or countryside.

PureSoul Running
Training loops and out-and-backs scored for surface, recovery and ascent.

PureSoul Cycling
Road and country rides scored for quiet roads, flow, climb and recovery.
